RunQ Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
This policy explains what RunQ ("we", "the app") collects, why, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account — email address, a username, and an optional display name, avatar, bio, and location label.
- Location — while you record a run, we use your device GPS (including in the background) to measure distance, pace, and your route. Recorded routes are stored with the runs you save.
- Activity content — runs, tracks, crews you join, events, comments, kudos, and messages you send.
- Apple Health (optional) — if you connect Apple Health, we read running workouts, distance, active energy, and heart rate to show your activity and stats. We only access this with your explicit permission and you can disconnect at any time. Health data is never used for advertising.
- Optional body metrics — weight, height, birth year, and sex, used only to estimate calories. These are stored privately and visible only to you.
- Push token — a device token so we can send you notifications you've opted into.
- Usage and diagnostics — which screens and features you use, and automatic reports when the app hits an error or crashes. These carry counts and categories only, never the free text you type (run names, messages, search terms) and never your GPS coordinates or health samples. You can turn analytics off in Settings.
- Subscription status — if you buy a premium subscription, our payments provider tells us that your subscription started, renewed or ended, and on which platform. We never see your card details; Apple or Google handles the payment itself.
How we use it
- To provide core features: recording runs, leaderboards, crews, chat, and notifications.
- To show your profile and activity to other users you choose to share with.
- To keep the service secure and to fix problems.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use Apple Health data for advertising.
Service providers
- Supabase — authentication, database, and storage hosting.
- MapTiler / OpenStreetMap — map tiles for displaying routes.
- Expo / Apple / Google push services — delivering notifications.
- PostHog — product analytics and error reporting, hosted in the European Union. It receives the usage and diagnostics described above, identified by an internal account id — never your email, username or display name.
- RevenueCat — managing subscription status on our behalf. It receives your subscription state and an internal account id; it never receives payment details.
- Apple / Google — processing subscription payments. Your payment details go to them, not to us.
Data retention & account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. When you do, we immediately remove your profile details (name, avatar, bio, location, body metrics) and hide your account. We keep a recoverable copy for a short grace period (about 30 days) so you can restore the account by signing back in. After that period, your account and associated data are permanently erased.
Your choices
- Grant or revoke Location, Apple Health, Photos, and Notifications permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
- Edit or remove your profile information in the app.
- Delete your account as described above.
Children
RunQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the date above when we do.
